More than 500 golfers are expected to participate in STRATA Networks’ 13th Annual Charity Golf Classic, which consists of two tournaments held on May 9th and May 16th. The May 9th event will take place at the Roosevelt City Golf Course while the May 16th tournament will be held at the Vernal Dinaland Golf Course, with both morning and afternoon flights each day.
Tee time kicks off at 7:30 a.m. for morning flights and 1 p.m. for afternoon flights. Each tournament will be a 4-person scramble and will include a BBQ lunch, gifts, snacks, raffle drawing, and the chance to win incredible hole-in-one prizes.
Over the years, STRATA’s Annual Charity Golf Classic has become a favorite for area residents, as well as for company vendors. Not only do participating golfers get to enjoy a day on the green but they also get to experience the satisfaction of raising funds to assist with the needs of community projects, local government, and other nonprofit groups. The event has raised over $80,000 over the past twelve years. These funds have directly benefited local charitable entities, such as Duchesne and Uintah County Victim’s Advocacy Groups, families of the Army National Guard, childhood and youth educational programs, Uintah Basin food pantries, and the local Search and Rescue Squads.
The proceeds from this year’s Golf Classic will go to the Family Support Center of the Uintah Basin. Located in Roosevelt, the Family Support Center provides services to Uintah, Duchesne, and Daggett Counties and aids approximately 250 children each year. Dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect, the organization provides a variety of services including a 24-hour care crisis/respite nursery, parenting classes, and resource referrals, at no cost to families in need.
“Every year, the donations we get determine whether or not we can stay open,” Janet Rowe, Executive Director of the Family Support Center, said. “STRATA’s donation is going to allow us to provide more resources to the community and will help us in our mission to prevent child abuse and support families.”
